Greenbrier Almond M.D is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, psychiatry emphasis; Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, continues whole person medical care through Total Life Clinicians LLC. This private practice treats body, mind, and spirit with motto of ". . . I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." from Jesus (John 10:10 New American Standard Bible). He consults back to the Department of Veterans Affairs performing Compensation and Pension exams on combat veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He retired after a career with the VA including being Chief of Psychiatry at the Louis A. Johnson VAMC in Clarksburg, West Virginia. While there he grew the PTSD program into the second most enrolled out-patient PTSD program in America by 1995. While serving as President of the largest medical specialty group in West Virginia he taught Family Doctors in the West Vierginia Chapter of Family Physicians about a wholistic approach treating PTSD (2 hour cme disc remains available) and about Lessons Learned from the Sago Mine Disaster 6 years ago about Acute Stress Management. His practice was 7 miles from Sago, West Virginia the way the crow flies. Dr. Almond also has led workshops on PTSD with Camp Furthest Out. He has hosted for 35 years a weekly TV program on Tender Loving Care, exploring the interface between Christianity and Medicine. He is a published author of Tender Loving Stories of a West Virginia Doctor. Within his local community he remains an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at West Virginia University School of Medicine; a member of the Board of Education of the Upshur County Schools; President of his Church's United Methodist Men; and secretary/treasurer of the largest medical society east of the Mississippi River geographically with the Central West Virginia Medical Society. His wife, Dr Araceli Ganan - Almond, and he are parents to Dr. Maria Luisa Ganan Almond, psychiatrist and to Attorney Roncevert David Ganan Almond, international aviation lawyer. Maria and Justin live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ronce and Yasmine live in Washington, D.C. In the past Dr. Almond served as Residency Training Director for Psychiatry at the Oral Roberts University School of Medicine as well as Medical Director for their Eating Disorder Program. He has been a board member of the Christian Medical Association.
